Traffic, visitors, customers, subscribers, readers, or people, whatever you may call it. It is the thing we want for our websites, regardless of the purpose of the website. Traffic is “the most important” thing. And traffic in itself means different thing to different people. For some it is something that you get as an result of search engine optimization (SEO), while for others it may be something that you get after investing some dollars in online ads (PPC, media buying, banner ads, Facebook ads, etc.). So what exactly is the nature of traffic; that is to say, what are the types of traffic?

There are two categories under which every type of traffic could be classified. Those categories are:

Paid Traffic

Free Traffic

Paid traffic

The traffic for which you have to pay even a single dime to the traffic source falls in this category. Traffic from PPC (Pay Per Click) ads, PPV (Pay Per View) ads, CPM (Cost Per Thousand) ads, Facebook ads, MySpace ads, sponsored tweets, banner ads, sponsored forum posts, etc., are the examples of paid traffic. And I must add here that your SEO agency does not fall in this category.

Paid traffic is said to be of high quality. It is believed that people clicking on the sponsored links are those who actively seek the solutions — whether informational or transactional — to their problems. But a proper care and due diligence is required on the marketer’s part to reap benefit from this source, for a small mistake can possibly cost you hundreds and thousands of dollars, if not whole business.

Free Traffic

Free traffic is the traffic that you get from Google, Yahoo, Bing, or any other search engines, or traffic even from twitter, Facebook profile page, MySpace, Digg, StumbleUpon, or any other social bookmarking or networking sites. Even traffic from classifies websites fall under this category.

Any traffic for which you do not have to pay to sending source is called free traffic. This is the best traffic you can imagine to have, and most of the Internet marketers focus on getting this. But some sources are too slow to deliver results — like SEO (search engine optimization).

For years, free traffic (unlimited) was supposedly Holy Grail of the online marketing industry, but soon the marketing community realized that paid traffic is also a good bet. And they started investing in it, big time. Paid traffic is worthy of admiration, for this is not something that depends upon the search engine’s (read Google) mood swing (read algorithm updates).

Google and other major search engine do affect paid traffic as well, but not the way it affects free traffic. It is advisable, therefore, to have a balanced mix of both kinds of traffic in your traffic getting plan.

That’s it for now. In the next article, I will talk about some traffic getting strategies. I am hoping to make it a series. Let’s see how it comes up. Till then keep reading.

Having an e-mail ID on your domain for each of your employee is no longer an optional step to be taken. It has become mandatory now, and this change has been brought forward because of the two important changes:

Employees no longer wish to use their personal mail IDs for your work because of the frequent job changes and privacy.

A mail sent from salesXYZ@gmail.com does not look as professional as a mail sent from sales@xyz.com.

Therefore, you must have a professional e-mail ID and for that you do not need to invest thousands of dollars in installing e-mail server. You can get everything by just buying an unlimited e-mail hosting account. You would not like to have an account that limits you and ask for more money as soon as number of users grows. You need to look for the following three things when deciding on an E-mail Hosing account.

Is it truly unlimited?

This is quite a valid question to ask. You will not want to buy a hosting account that charges for every new user. Ask if the e-mail hosting account you are considering offers: unlimited Email Accounts with at least 1GB per mail box. Does it support mailing list should you decide for sending mass mail to all your customers.

Is it safe?

Does the e-mail hosting account you are considering provide virus protection? Does it have Spam Protection? Do you have DNS control? These are the questions you need to ask while finalizing your e-mail hosting account.

What features does it have?

Online address book, folder management, SMTP/POP3 and IMAP as well as webmail access, sorting and searching, vacation auto responder, etc. are some of the features you need to have in your e-mail hosting account.

And on top of that ask yourself whether it is in your budget or not.

Note: You may want to check Gossimer’s Ultimate Email Plan that offers lots of feature and charge you just $1 per month for unlimited e-mail accounts. In fact, it has all the features we discussed above. Check it out the Ultimate Email Plan!

Blogs, blogs and blogs! This is one of the most talked about Internet terms (contractions) of our time, and everybody seems interested in it. A search in Google with term “blog” will give you an idea about the popularity of this contraction. Upon searching with keyword blog, Google returns 2,900,000,000 results. This astounding figure is a tell tale in itself.

Some people have blogs and some don’t, but almost everyone will want to make some cash, if not a killing, out of it. With so many people on board of the blog-train, is there any seat for me, and can I make money by boarding this train? If this is what you are thinking about then let me tell you, there are many seats vacant for you on the blog-train. This is an organic train, the more people will join it the bigger it will eventually become. The only question you should ask before jumping on or off the train is the question how? How to make money from blogs? This article is an attempt to answer that.

Making money from blog is possible, but making quick money from blog is not possible. Buddy, forget about millions, there isn’t any quick way to earn even hundreds of thousands of dollars, or even just thousands of dollars. Your blog will take some time before it starts making money for you, and if you have time on your side then making money off the blog is not going to be a farfetched dream for you. Along with time, you will also need expertise on the niche (subject) in which you are planning to operate.

An income from a blog can be classified into two broad categories: direct income and indirect income. As the name suggest, direct income refers to the money that you make directly from your blog, whereas, the indirect income mean the income you make as a result of the content you have on your blog. In the later case, your blog will work as a portfolio, or better still, as the medium that will showcase your talent; in this case, your blog will trigger something or someone, and that something or someone will give you work that will fetch money.

Under direct income categories we put income like, income from advertisements, affiliate commissions, link sales, paid posts or reviews, text link ads, and sponsorships, etc., whereas, indirect income constitutes of writing contract, freelancing works, book sales, product sales, designing contract, programming works, e-Book writing works, and researching works etc.

Both the ways are right and which one will work for you will depend upon the nature and purpose of your blog. The best way to find what will be suitable for your blog is to study the competition, and see what monetization policy they are using, and try to emulate them. This strategy has worked for many bloggers and hope this time it will work for you as well.

Work at home scams are all over the Internet. With the demand of work at home jobs rising, so is the amount of scams being offered! If you know anything about the Internet or even professional business etiquette, then most work at home scams are easy to spot. But some are very clever and are more misleading than others. Here are some easy tips on how you can spot a work at home scam:

If the advertisement for the work at home job states that you can make easy, quick money, then it is most likely a scam. Like any job, a work at home job is going to take effort and time that you have to put into it to make any kind of reasonable profit from it. Be very wary of any job that says that you can make thousands of dollars the first day on the job. This is just not reasonable at all.

Do you do your research on any work at home company that you come across? Simply type their name into the Google search engine and explore the first couple pages of results to see what you get. You may get the company’s actual website (which will help you learn more about them) and you may get results for reviews on the company or forum posts from people who have worked for the company. Look over everything that you find very carefully before you proceed to apply for the job with the company.

Never send a company any money before you start a job with them. Any legitimate company will have enough funds to cover any fees that they may encounter due to your job application. So if a job offer requires that you pay first, it is a huge sign that they will take your money and never be heard from again.

Be really cautious about any emails that you get that are unsolicited. It is almost always a scam or they are asking for money. Unless the email states that they got your name off a resume builder site or from a client reference, the best advice is to just delete the email.

If the job posting has bad grammar or is really vague, it could be a scam. Most professional companies will take the time to make sure that their job advertisement is written with proper grammar and that it looks professional. They don’t want to come across looking unintelligent so that people are scared away from applying with them. Bad grammar and very vague job postings are another big sign that it may be a work at home scam.

Never wire transfer any money to a potential employer (or anybody else for that matter). The work at home jobs that claim that all you have do to is wire transfer money to someone and in return that you will get a check in the mail are complete hoaxes! They will take your money that you transferred and you will be left standing there with no job or money.

If you do find a work at home job that you like and want to take with a company, ask them for references if you are still unsure. Any legitimate company will give you references for you to look at. If you have any qualms about a work at home job, its better just not to pursue it, as most of the time a person’s intuition is correct.
