09 Jul 10 How to Build a Website?

Having a website of a company or for a personal profile is so common nowadays. Many of us wish to build a website, but are totally unaware about where to start from. It still stirs confusion and mystery. But, the good news is, it won’t be the same after reading this article. Follow these simple steps.

Register the Domain Name

First of all, name your website. Find out a suitable name for your website which narrates your objective or function or your specialty. If your name itself is a brand, get the domain space named after you. To rank high in search engine pages include targeted keywords in your domain name. As for example, if you are making a website of your salon, try to include the word ‘salon’ in your domain name. You can also get a non-keyword optimized domain but it will be comparatively less search engine optimized. Go for reputed and trustworthy domain name registrars only. You will find list of them on Internet. If you want a personal site then go for free web hosting sites like Blogger.com and WordPress.com.

Find Server to Host Your Website

After registration of domain name, a web server is needed to host your website. Some companies also host websites at the cost of a nominal monthly fee. You can also set up your own server. But it takes technical knowhow and lot of overhead costs.

Design your Website

Web designing requires understanding of both aesthetic and technical side. If you are a designer yourself you can easily design a website as per your choice. Otherwise, take help of professional companies or individual designers. Ranges of designing are vast, as web designing can be of several types. Your website can be interactive or static. Both design and content has to be good. Once the design is final upload the files to your server and let the world find you on Internet.

Market your Website

After you are ready with your website, it’s time for the promotion and people to come to know about it. If your purpose is to get easily noticed and found on Internet consider Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Include search engine optimized keywords in your web content. But put them smartly and effectively than merely filling up the space. Start blogging, writing articles promoting your website. Get into social networking sites and promote your site by posting links, drawing in followers or fans. You can also get into advertising on Internet. You can also hire professional marketers to promote your website.

Yes, building a website is that easy, as it has been described here. Try it and let your presence felt all across the Internet.

15 May 10 Where to Look for Your Killer Blog post Idea

Creating one exciting blog post after another and keep on doing so weeks after weeks is a challenge that not everyone can stands against. That is the reason why so many blogs start breaking at the seams just after couple of months, if not after couple of weeks. But there is a piece of good news, and the news is that you can now learn to create one killer blog post after another, and that too in a handful of simple steps.

Writing killer blog posts

What people need?

This is important. Finding what your blog readers want from the blogs they read will help you construct a blog post for your blog. You can use poll results, forum questions, and blog comments, etc., to find out the information need of your readers.

Who will read it?

Do you know who the ideal reader of your blog is? Where she lives, and what all she does in his life? Is she a teacher or a student? Is she old or young?

These are some of the questions you need to ask to define your target audience. Defining your ideal target audience is important in order to decide the tone of voice to use to write blog posts. It also helps in word selection.

Research

The process of writing a high-quality starts with researching the topic you have chosen. The more time you will spend doing the research the better will be the output, but it does not mean you should spend your lifetime researching the topic.

You need to study the topic from every point of view to get a complete picture, which is not possible unless you spend some time in researching about the topics.

Draft composition

Use the research data and create a first draft of the blog post keeping the above factors in the mind. If you want to create a blog post that pulls visitors then you have to get off the cycle of publishing anything that gets typed out by you, and start treating each blog post as important.

You should not consider your first draft as the final blog post. Instead, you should read the blog post and make the necessary changes before publishing it.

Pay attention to details, as the beauty lies in details. Rushing from one blog post to another will not get the desired result, but working painstakingly through each post will definitely drive your readers crazy.

17 Sep 09 Create a New Profile in Firefox in 5 Simple Steps

Firefox is amazing and we all know that, but did you know that you can create different profiles in Firefox, and that each profile can have a different set of bookmarks, passwords, themes, and even extensions? Well, to be honest, I was not always in the know, and it was not until I found myself in trouble that I searched for this. I do not want you to be in the quagmire that I found myself in; hence, I am providing here the steps that I took to create a fresh profile and worked my way around the problem.

Step 1

Make sure that the Firefox is closed. You will not be able to create a profile, if Firefox is working, even in the background. Go to File and click Exit to close the Firefox, if it is open.

Step 2

Now, the next step involves launching Firefox profile manager, and for this you need to click start menu and then “Run”. Type “firefox.exe –P” or “firefox.exe –ProfileManager” (without quotes) in the “Run” dialogue box and hit “Ok”.

Step 3

This will bring Firefox profile manager. Click the “Create Profile” button and wait for the welcome message to appear. Now click next.

Step 4:

Type a profile name in there, and make sure you are typing a profile name that will help you remind yourself of why you have created it. Click Finish and you are good to go.

Step 5:

Activate your profile manager, one more time. If the profile manager is not active, follow Step 3. Choose the profile you want to use from the list and click start Firefox. That’s it. You are done.
