17 Jun 10 How to Create an Effective Newsletter?

Nowadays every marketer is leaning towards newsletters. Newsletter is an effective medium of communication between the marketer and the end customer or prospect. Monthly or weekly newsletters keep the receiver informed of the company’s latest developments, events, products, or services, functions, achievements, promotional offers, tips and the like. A newsletter can be sent in form of email or it can be sent as a direct mailer too. Irrespective of the medium of sending, an uninteresting newsletter always gets place in garbage. So while crafting a newsletter one has to keep these few points in mind.

A newsletter should always have a defined purpose behind it and targeted towards its audience. Target audience can be present customers or prospective customers or even both. After mapping the audience the objective has to be defined. The newsletter can be reinforcing previous communication, it can be made to derive a particular action like inviting more footfall during sale, and it can be announcement of an event or launch of upcoming product or award achieved.

Maintain the schedule of newsletter cycle. Don’t skip even one date. Timeliness of newsletter sending – whether it’s daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly is very important. Inconsistent delivery may make the company appear irresponsible, casual, and unprofessional. Don’t forget there may be readers who are enthusiastically waiting for your newsletter every time.

Make newsletters customized as per the audience’s profile. Do not send same content to all. If your segment is quite big and involves many people in it from different categories, pick up specific relevant content from the newsletter and send to the appropriate person.

Don’t compromise with the design of newsletter. Even great content go unnoticed for a poor execution of design. Don’t fall for too fancy layouts. Keep it simple, yet creative and unique.

Always keep the communication open. Gather feedback about newsletter from the receivers, vendors, partners, professionals. Ask them to suggest topics. If readers are asked to contribute in content, it will keep them involved and more enthusiastic. Readers can be asked to send their valuable opinions in a given email address. It will keep the reader interested, and feel important.

Make newsletters even more interesting and entertaining by including attractions like – puzzle, Sudoku, cartoon, and case study.

You can also use newsletter as a medium of special discount or free gift. It will keep readers interested and more number of newsletter subscriptions will be possible. Each time come up with an exclusive offer.

Make content crisp and catchy. Highlight the important points. Use bullets and frequent paragraphs. It will help readers to skim through in busy schedule. Too lengthy, complicated, and difficult newsletters are strict ‘no no’.

Keep the mailing list updated. This database is of immense importance. Make sure you are able to convert more and more customers and prospects into newsletter readers. Don’t annoy customers by sending newsletter again and again if they prefer to unsubscribe.

28 May 10 Telescopic Pricing will go live

Dear Reseller,

Telescopic Pricing will go live this Saturday on the 29th of May, 2010. This mail contains details on the impact of the launch on the SuperSite.

Telescopic Pricing and its advantages:

With the current set up, your Customers are charged the same amount regardless of the number of years the Product is purchased for. Using this feature, you will be able to set a different price based on the number of years the Product is purchased for and hence tempt Customers to purchase Products for a longer period. For instance, if you are offering .COM Domains @ $10 for a single year, you will now be able to charge a Customer $90 for a 10 year registration instead of a fixed fee of $100.

There are several advantages of multiple year purchases such as:

Greater Customer Retention: the tenure for which a Customer does business with you is greatly increased and thus gives you the opportunity to build Customer loyalty and drive renewals.

Greater Upselling Opportunities: with a longer tenure, you have that much more time to upsell your additional Products and Services and hence earn more off each Customer.

Greater Revenue Earned: through multiple year purchases, you can earn more on every Product sold and hence increase the revenue earned.
 Impact of the launch

Impact on Base Slab Prices:

We have found that certain Resellers have not set Base Slab prices for their Customers and Resellers. If you have not set Base Slab prices, we urge you to set them before the launch to avoid being negatively affected.

Impact on Customer Slabs:

As part of this launch, we will be deprecating all Customers Slabs.

Impact on Specific Pricing:

Post the launch on the 29th, Specific Pricing will have the highest priority for Customers. A Customer for whom you have set a Specific Price will always be charged that price regardless of the Promo Price or Telescopic Price that is available. In case there is no Specific Price set, your Customer will be charged the lower price between the Promo Price and Telescopic Price.

However, the implementation for Resellers and Sub-Resellers will not be affected by this launch. They will continue to be charged the lowest available price between the Specific Price, Promo Price and regular Slab based Price.

Impact on the SuperSite:

The following files will be modified as part of the launch:

Check Availability.html: Manage Site » Edit/Translate Content Pages » Products  » Domain  » Domain_registration  » Check_availibilty  » Check_availibility.html
Dom_reg_addorder.html: Manage Site » Edit/Translate Content Pages » Products  » Domain  » Domain_registration  » Dom_reg_addorder  » Dom_reg_addorder.html
Domain_pricing.html: Manage Site » Edit/Translate Content Pages » Products  » Domain  » Domain_pricing  » Domain_pricing.html

Please Note: Your SuperSite will continue to function normally without these changes. However, if you would like Telescopic Pricing to be displayed on your SuperSite, you will need to modify the above-mentioned files.

24 Apr 10 How to Make Most of the Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is gaining ground on the Internet. More and more people are joining it, and attempting to make it big on the Internet, but not everyone is tasting success. Why? Well, reasons could be anything from choosing wrong niche or product to marketing it in the wrong medium. My goal for this article is to tell you how to avoid mistakes and make it big in Affiliate marketing.

Make a list

This is the first thing you need to have to make it big on the Internet. As they say, money is in the list. The bigger your list is the better results you will get. The result will also depend on how nicely targeted your list is to the niche you are working in, so do not just go for size, care about quality as well.

Chose the Niche you love

There are plenty of niches out there, and many of them are performing well, but you are not positioned to explore each one of them. Do not go for the ones that you do not feel comfortable working in. The niche where you can add value should be chosen, as you will be writing about it.

Choose high-performing products

Do not offer to sale the product that doesn’t give you good commission, but more importantly it should have higher conversion rate and EPC (earning per click).

See the landing page

Before you commit to any product, do not forget to see the landing page to understand how it looks. A good landing page with proper conversion will work better on the Internet.

Create a bonus

If you are offering a high-ticket item to your list then make sure, you are giving them an attractive bonus for buying from you. Do not offer just any bonus for the heck of it. Offer the one that is really meaningful.

Review the product

You can also write an honest review of the product you are selling. Do not go bombastic about the benefits of the product even if it is flawed. This is a certain way to lose people.

Send out mailers

Send multiple mailers to your list: during prelaunch, during launch, and couple of mails explaining the bonus and saying it will end soon.

These are the essential steps of affiliate marketing. Follow these and you will indeed make it big in affiliate marketing.
