Joe is an idiot. He knows pretty much nothing about e-mail subscriber list building strategies; nevertheless, he succeeded in pulling visitors after visitors to sigh-up to his e-mail newsletter. As said, Joe knew nothing except for the fact that a big list of opt-in e-mails is required, if he wants to succeed in online world. He understood this and employed the following strategies to encourage viewer to sign-up.

E-mail subscriber list building strategies

Idiot Joe put a “subscribe here” link and e-mail box above-the-fold on each page of his website. He made it known to his visitors that he requires their e-mail IDs to send them lucrative offers.
Idiot Joe promised his visitors that if they sign-up, he will give them a wonderful free gift. He offered a free report, but you can offer anything from e-books to discount coupons to free reports to free e-mail courses, or anything that your visitors think is useful for them.
Idiot Joe told his visitors that he has no intention to sell their e-mail IDs or SPAM them with useless mails and promotion offers. He categorically wrote this on the prominent places in his website. He also wrote this below the e-mail box using flashing colors to inform his visitors of his genuine intention.
Idiot Joe also included a “Tell a Friend” link in all his e-mails that he sent out. He has included this link at critical positions. He just asked for it, and many of his subscribers forwarded him mails to their friends, which resulted in more e-mail subscription.
Idiot Joe also put a “Call to action” line asking people to sign-up for exciting newsletter at the bottom of all the mails that he sent out.

He made this a habit and thing changed for Idiot Joe. Visitors started pouring in. You can also employ these strategies to build your own mammoth list of opt-in e-mails. Facebook is a killer app. It has literally killed many social networking sites. Most notables of them are Orkut, and MySpace. Yes, MySpace and Orkut are long dead, and what you see for Orkut and MySpace these days are nothing but the corpses.

Social networking sites are not the only things that Facebook killed during its rise to the status it currently enjoys, the social networking giant has also accidentally killed the basic etiquettes people had in pre-Facebook era. My goal in this article is to help people reinstate the good old ways of doing things. I want people to be considerate as they were in past. Hence, in this short blog post, I will point out the bad behaviors that Facebookers should avoid.

Basic Facebook Blunders

Playing games and publishing all the updates (minor or major) is the first misconduct to go in the list. People are in the habit of playing multiple games and publishing even the tiniest of update. Avoid doing it. This act irritates everyone. Major updates could be okay.
Sending numerous quiz requests is another bad behavior. It should be avoided. Do not send a take-this-quiz request to every friend in your list. This is a surefire way to make people angry. No one opens his mailbox to see how many quiz request he got.
Do not send unlimited likes and dislike alerts. These updates piss people off.

And as a SEO newbie, you will jump from your seat with excitement, if I say, “On November 13, 2008, Google published its own SEO guide for beginners: Google’s Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide; which when used along with this guide can be very helpful in teaching you SEO.” Below I am going to share some key points that Google talked in its SEO guide.

Google asks you to focus on bettering the user experience, for the search engine is focusing now on reducing the bounce rate as well.
Are you in the habit of using page1.html, page2.html, or 1.html, 2.html, etc., for naming the web pages you upload on your website? Google asks you to avoid this.
Google says, for the search engine a title tag and a Meta description tag matter, so be super careful when writing these tags. A unique title tag each for every web page in your website will also assist you in tracking these pages using Google Webmaster tool.
Google recommends using dashes in place of underscores in URL, moreover, insist on using shorter URL using descriptive words. I would suggest using descriptive keywords.
Google beseeches the webmaster to reduce the tier and flatten the navigation of its website. Minimize number of clicks and remove unnecessary layers from directories as well.
Google is frustrated with inconsistent interlinking. Either use the prefix www with all the pages that you are interlinking or do not use them at all. You should not sometime use it and at others leave it. The same hold true with CAPS and no-CAPS.
Google asks you to give extra care to Sitemap, and requests the webmaster to have XML as well as HTML sitemaps.
Use a proper keyword in Anchor text. It helps Google a lot.
Make a proper use of breadcrumbs navigational structure to create content silos.
Did you hear Google shout, “NO DUPLICACY PLEASE!” Duplicity and cheating are looked down on by Google. Do not point two URLS in your website to the same article or content.
