10 Jan 10 3 WordPress Plugins That Will Help You Connect With Your Visitors

Blogging is fun not only because it gives you an opportunity to express yourself freely, but also because it helps you connect with the fellow users. In this article, I will tell you about 3 plug-ins that will not only allow you connect with like-minded people on the Internet but will also help promote your WordPress blog.

Sociable

No matter which social networking site your visitor use to broadcast the article he or she finds interesting, Sociable is going to help him. This is the best social media plugin for WordPress blogs. It has in-built support for 99 social bookmarking sites, and it is highly customizable. You can add, remove, and arrange various social networking buttons, in other words, you can control where which button will appear in the list that will typically appear at the bottom of every post once this plug-in is installed.

Tweet This

Twitter is amazing, and we all know that. We also know that no discussion on social media will be complete without talking about Twitter, and no discussion on social media plugin is complete if Tweet This is not mentioned.

Tweet This is the best twitter plugin for your WordPress that allows you to tweet your new posts. It can also be configured to tweet scheduled posts. To shorten the URL of the post, this plugin uses your favorite URL shorting service, which you can customize using your personal API for tracking. The new version of plugin also has support for Plurk, Delicious, Digg, Yahoo Buzz, Ping.fm, Reddit, Facebook, MySpace, and StumbleUpon.

The WordPress Bar

What happens when a visitor clicks on the external link on your blog? He or she breaks all the connections and goes away to another website, but an external link is important, so this is kind of inevitable, isn’t it?

Well, there is a way out, and The WordPress Bar shows you that. Have you seen a Digg bar? The WordPress Bar functions similarly like a digg bar. A visitor remains connected to your blog through The WordPress Bar, even when he or she clicks on an external link. The bar performs many more functions. You need to check this out to know exactly what all it does.

23 Nov 09 5 Blogging Blunders

Blogs are fun and rewarding. It can serve many purposes. It can work as a tool to promote your business or it can be a business in itself. The power of blogging is immense if utilized properly, but not all the bloggers can derive that power that because in the initial days, it requires a lot of work. And not all the bloggers have the mettle to carry on. This is the reason a blogger commit one or all of the following blunders, which proves catastrophic for their blogs. I hope you will not commit the same mistake after knowing the big blogging mistakes.

Blogging Blunder 1: Too few and too irregular blog posting

This is the biggest mistake, because content is what your visitors come to read, and if you do not regularly provide them with updated content then they are not going to come back. Your visitors will stop seeing you. I am not asking you to post 5 times or day or even daily because the frequency of posting depends upon the niche you operate in. But, whatever frequency you choose, stick to it. Follow a routine. If you post on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays then you should stick to it, no matter what.

Blogging Blunder 2: Too lazy to proofread and edit

If you commit occasional small writing mistakes then it is okay, but if your mistakes are too glaring and too overwhelming then you should proofread it, and edit your post before putting it live. How many people do you know who can put up with shoddy work? I know of not many. No one likes a badly written post, regardless of the type of content that you have. Proofread your post manually for grammatical and spelling errors.

Blogging Blunder 3: Too busy to care for comments

Comment stimulates conversation and conversation helps us build communities. Comment, conversation, and community forms the 3 Cs of blogging. Ignore any of them and you are doomed. Reading and responding to comments are critical for the blogging success. Do not ignore any comment. Read it, understand it, and send a reply. The more you will engage your audience in conversation the frequent they will visit to your blog.

Blogging Blunder 4: Irrelevant headlines

A good (and descriptive) headline works as a magic, and a bad (and cryptic) headlines scare the visitors as ghosts. Write good headlines and see the increase in readership. Read the following posts to know about writing headlines.

Blogging Blunder 5: Too busy to care for design, plug-ins, and maintenance

Keep your blog well-maintained and updated. This will keep your blog secure. Use an intuitive navigation link structure. Make the important things easily accessible, and install all the required plug-ins. Give extra care when choosing a design; no one like too flashy and shabby blog.

12 Sep 09 Do You Want to Be a Freelance Blogger, BUT Why?

There are many reasons why people go for blogging, and if you are like most of us then at the crudest level, you want to be a blogger because you want to make money. Well, you can make money doing many thing, why blogging? And if blogging then why freelance blogging? Why would on like to be a staff blogger?

Well…let’s find out.

At the core, one would like to be a staff blogger, because one would like to make a living by doing this, but what about fun while you earn or that cliché “learn while you earn” concept? If you become a staff blogger, you will see the following differences:

  • You will find that writing posts for blog is not just easy, but it is fun as well.
  • While blogging you will realize that you are in control and it is on you to create a niche for yourself
  • You can get a lot of readers, as reading blog is often free.
  • You will also notice that as a staff blogger you are getting paid much quicker than any magazine editors will get.
  • You will notice that unlike magazine, what goes on the blog stays there till the blog lasts. Your posts have unlimited shelf life.
  • If you take freelance blogging as a career, you will realize that you are free to be anywhere, anytime as long as you write what is required of you.
  • You will see that after every post, you are not only becoming more knowledgeable about the topics you write upon, but you will become more astute with words and sentences.
  • After working for some months, as a freelance blogger, you will feel a remarkable improvement in your writing.

I know the list can go on and on, but my agenda behind writing this post was not to bore you to death with all the minutest details, but to ignite a fire in you: a fire that will force you to explore. I hope, I have succeeded, or have I failed miserably?
