I was once a blue-eyed MBA guy who believed in the power of big companies, and those silky legs and sultry pouts of glamour models in glossy print ads. I also believed that skin-revealing outfits will make me sell insurances, adhesives, and god knows what not. But, this love affair with mass advertising ended sooner than later. I was disillusioned, disoriented, after all my education appeared to be based on false ground. And I later realize that the principles were right, and we messed it up in execution. Hence, I moved on to online advertising. It is more closely tied with the principles of advertising than is offline or the banner ads displayed on the Internet.
What do you think about this issue? Do you agree or disagree?

There are many ways in which a blog or a website can monetize its traffic. Some of them are quite common and easy to do, while others are time consuming and more complex. When I say easy to do then I do not mean that you will not require to do anything and money will flow. I am sorry to break your heart and hope, but this simply is not possible. All I meant with “easy to do” is that enrolling in such networks is easy and making money takes less effort than it will in the complex mechanism like selling merchandise, e-books, courses, consultations, etc.
Advertisement is one of the easiest sources of website monetization tools for online publishers. It is arguably the biggest source of revenue generation for an online publisher. If a properly targeted advertisement is placed above the fold then the blog or website owner can even expect to earn living from his online property, provided his website or blog has enough traffic.
In the following posts, I will cover in detail the different types of online advertising networks available for the publishers. The categorization of ad networks in the following posts will be on the basis of visitors’ interaction with the ads, not on the basis of ad formats like banners, text links etc. I will not concern myself with the format of ads, but with the kind of interaction or response the ads want from our visitors. Before I sign off for the day, I should give you the classification of online advertisements on the basis of required response from customers.
The entire gamut of online advertisements can be classified into three categories, which are:
For now, keep this in mind and in the next post, I will tell you what CPA is and the post following that will discuss CPC and the final post in this mini-series will tell you about CPM. I will also give you names of the major players in each category.

Searching the Gossimer Blog archives, our team noticed that there wasn’t a post specifically on links. This was great on our end because our team wants to continuously provide information that is in the best interest of our friends, clients and customers. And now that Gossimer has some new features, we would like to start spreading our links around!
Most people know that sharing interesting information is best done online with links. A lot of people send posts to their friends with a link embedded in the content. These are what you would call one way links. Links embedded between websites are mostly two way links because one way embedded links are mostly posted through advertisements. But what if there were a method of leaving a one-way link without having to pay an advertising fee?
Gossimer host some websites that do just that! Traffic.VG allows you to:
Post your ad links, get free traffic from unique IP address immediately!
NO registry, Absolute free, So easy!
It is split into two parts: Area V (Visit) and Area G (Generate). Unlike Pengs’ Reciprocal Links you can submit it without registering. Once you do, you get an automatic ID number for your ad. You can use this number to check who visited and also to earn points for visiting other links posted. It seems that the more points earned for your ID, the higher up your ad will appear on the link list.
This is a great way for spreading links around. Osman Trellit, on Chang Siu dot Com, describes one way links as the toughest to accomplish because “you are not returning any link to the site that links to you.” He goes on to say that a big SEO strategy involves popular links, researching keywords and special marketing for websites. I wonder if sites like Traffic.VG will change that? Submitting a link on such a website is one way (since the submitter doesn’t have to link to Traffic.VG) and yet, it is reciprocal in that the link becomes more popular the more links the submitter visits. It would be interesting to see this become a part of NoFollow Reciprocity.
If enough people were to submit one-way links or were to join the NoFollow Reciprocity movement, perhaps bigger websites would change their method of linking. If you don’t know much about the NoFollow Monstrosity click on these embedded links. If you do know about it, enlighten us and leave your opinion on Traffic.VG in a comment below. Thanks!
